Frequently Asked Questions
Is your Academy right for me?
IFA Football Academy is the perfect place for aspiring football players – who
- have been released from a club(s), or have been, as yet, undiscovered – and/or
- seek the opportunity to showcase their talent to top-level football clubs – and/or
- want to maximise their football potential and understanding of the game – and/or
- want to experience life within a professional football environment – and/or
- want to work and train with the best coaches
You will have showcase opportunities and coaching, which would be hard to match at many clubs, let alone at other academies.
Will you help me get into a professional club?
We will showcase your talent in front of respected Academy, Centre of Excellence Managers, Coaches and Scouts. This is the best way to get noticed.
Plus, at their discretion, our coaches, will promote any player who impresses and shows that they have what it takes to make it at the semi-/professional level, to our range of contacts from the Conference to the Premier League and beyond.
What happens if I do not get scouted, or progress to a club?
There is no easy route to becoming a semi-/professional footballer and IFA Football Academy cannot promise to get trials for players, or obtain professional contracts. However, we do guarantee to maximise your skill levels and make sure that you compete and have opportunities to showcase your talent at the highest level possible.
Your fees pay for top class coaching, full board accommodation, amazing facilities, official transport, showcase opportunities and the experience of life at a professional football academy.
After the programme, we keep in touch with you and you can contact us at any time for advice and guidance. Plus we encourage players at the Academy to do an educational programme as this provides routes into continued education, or employment.
Can you help me choose a course/programme?
We have tried to provide as much information as possible to help you make an informed choice about which programme and/or education option, is best for you. However, if you are not certain which course, or option is best for you, or if you just want to discuss your options further, we are more than happy to talk that through with you, to help you make the right choice – the one that is best for you. Call us now on: +353(0)892513333
I am outside the stated age group. Can I still apply?
Our programmes are designed for players within the specified age range. However, if you are outside the age range (older, or younger), and want to attend the Academy, it is worth telephoning the Academy to review what options may be available to you.
What happens if I get injured during the course?
IFA Football Academy will do everything in our power to insure that player injuries are minimised, and our coaches will ensure that everyone takes part in a proper warm-up and cool-down, before and after each training session.
However, injuries are an unfortunate, but inevitable part of a contact/collision sport like football. IFA Football Academy provides a qualified physiotherapist, who is available to assess and treat any injuries accordingly and provides a rehabilitation programme as necessary. This helps the players to recover faster and enables them to seamlessly transition back into training.
Anything urgent and the student-athlete will be taken to hospital immediately.
What airport is best to fly to?
The following airports are the nearest:
Shannon – https://www.shannonairport.ie
Dublin – https://www.dublinairport.com
Cork – https://www.corkairport.com/
We can arrange for you to be collected from most airports. Airport transfers are not included in the Academy fees and will incur an additional charge. We request that wherever possible you try to co-ordinate the arrival and departure times so that they are between 08:00 and 19:00 GMT.
